Who is Big Al?
Everyone wants to know… who is Big Al? Well, Big Al does exist, she (yes, she) is the owner of the shop and can often be seen outside giving trail recommendations at the big map. But Big Al is not the only one running this show, it’s the Big Al’s Crew that makes this shop what it is. At Big Al’s you will find a group of people who love bikes and who can’t wait to show you what Crested Butte is all about. Yes, at Big Al’s… we know because we ride.
Advocacy
At Big Al’s we know the importance of being involved. We support local trail development, and cycling advocacy in our community and beyond. We sponsor the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association, and encourage employees to be members and participate in Trail work whenever possible. The shop participates in the 1% for Open Space program that collects a 1% tax on all goods purchased at our store that is then used to preserve land in our area. We donate to the Crested Butte Land Trust, IMBA, and Bicycle Colorado.
Our Environmental Commitment
Big Al’s is committed to protecting the environment both locally and globally. We recycle all materials we can at the shop; we even do metal, tube and tire recycling. You can drop off your old tubes and tires and we will make sure they get to the recycling center. We are an ORE Energywise certified business and support wind energy thru GCEA.
